Split Airport maintains a direct line with 75 European cities from 21 countries and this year (2011) that number increased by 10 new destinations. This year, the biggest increase is in the number of aircraft from Russia.

With fifty classic airlines Split Airport will connect with the world and 11 low-cost carriers on scheduled and charter flights.

Spanair introduce a new line from Barcelona to Split.

Spanish tour operators are interested in a further increase in tourist traffic from Spain to Croatia, for that they need: more direct route to Croatia, more hotel capacity in Croatia and more vehicles for hire.
This year (2011), from Spain to Croatia could get up to 20 percent more tourists than last year, a Spanish tour operators are already recorded for up to 15 percent greater interest in the travel business in Croatia.

Open Skies Agreement signed between Croatia and the United States hopefully will result in direct flights between the two countries.

Goal is to bring 650,000 tourists to Croatia by air, a quarter more than last year.

On Tuesday 27.January 2011, 94 contracts worth € 8 million were signed at Split's airport joining public and private tourism sector funds for promotional activities aimed at attracting more air tourists to Croatia. The contracts are part of the 2011 Croatian Tourism Action Plan and were signed by the director of the Croatian National Tourism Board and representatives of county tourism boards, tour operators and private travel agencies.

This year (2010) Split will be linked to 74 destinations. Direct air links of which 12 new destinations: Basel, Hannover, Lille, London - Stansted, Manchester, Milan, Paris, Rome, Ornskoldsvik, Aalesund, Norrkoping.
EasyJet will this year have six new destinations (Basel, Berlin, London - Stansted, Milan, Paris, Rome) and Norwegian Air Shuttle will increase the number of landings by as much as 80%!

Two largest airports on Croatian coast: Split and Dubrovnik - celebrates record breaking season (2010).

The largest relative increases in passenger numbers occurred at:

  • Zadar Airport up 30.56%, to total of 254.802 passengers
  • Dubrovnik Airport up 13,32%, to total of 1.257.770 passengers
  • Split Airport up 9.98%, to total of 1.187.921 passengers
  • Zagreb Airport up 0.55%, to total of 2.067.646 passengers

Passenger numbers have risen throughout the year, with 5,78 % more this year (2010.) than during 2009. There has been a particular increase in passenger numbers at Zadar airport, with 30,56 % more this year than during 2009.
